This press release summarises the decisions of the Communications Authority (CA) following its 146th meeting held in September 2025.
CA Approves Renewal Application for Non-domestic Television Programme Service (Non-domestic TV) Licence from Star China Media Limited
The CA approved the application from Star China Media Limited for renewal of its non-domestic TV licence for 12 years, from 20 November 2025 to 19 November 2037 (both dates inclusive). Currently, there are nine non-domestic TV licensees providing a total of around 150 satellite television programme channels for the Asia Pacific region.
Broadcast Complaint
The CA considered a complaint case in respect of the outage of the domestic pay television programme service of Now TV Limited (Now TV) between February and March 2025. The CA decided that Now TV should be strongly advised to observe closely the relevant provision of the Generic Code of Practice on Television Technical Standards and the relevant licence condition.
