This press release summarises the Communications Authority (CA)'s decisions made in January 2023.
Renewal of the Non-domestic Television Programme Service (Non-domestic TV) Licence of Hong Kong TV International Media Group Limited (HKTVIM)
The CA approved the application by HKTVIM for renewal of its non-domestic TV licence for 12 years, from 19 March 2023 to 18 March 2035 (both dates inclusive). Currently, there are nine non-domestic TV licensees providing around 140 satellite television programme channels for the Asia Pacific region.
Termination of the Other Licensable Television Programme Service Licence of Sheraton International (Hong Kong) Limited (Sheraton)
The CA approved the application by Sheraton for termination of its other licensable television programme service licence with effect from 28 December 2022. The CA noted that it was a commercial decision of Sheraton to surrender the licence, and that another licensee is providing television programme services for its hotel. Following the termination of Sheraton's licence, there are 19 other licensable television programme service licensees providing television programme services for hotels in Hong Kong.
